Aspen Ski Areas -
Buttermilk is one of the finest teaching/learning mountains in the country,
kids and beginners love Buttermilk for its gentle sloping runs, it has three
double chair lifts, two high speed quad chair lift and four ski school lifts.
There are 47 trails, 430 acres, 35% beginner, 39% intermediate and 26% advanced.
Buttermilk has a vertical drop of 2,030 feet with the longest run being 3
miles.
Never ever (beginner) lessons meet in front of the main building at the Ski
School at the base of the Buttermilk Ski Area. The group leader needs to go
in to ski school building and let them know how many you have needing lessons.
Snowmass is one of the largest ski areas in North America, serviced by seven
high-speed quad chair lifts, two triple chair lifts, six double chair lifts,
two magic carpets, 2 platter pulls and 2 ski and snowboard school lifts. It
is known for its intermediate cruising runs but it actually has more expert
terrain than Aspen Mountain or Aspen Highlands. Snowmass has 78 trails, 3100
acres with 6% beginner, 50% intermediate, 12% advanced and 32% expert. Snowmass
has a vertical drop of 4406 feet with the longest run being 5.3 miles.
Aspen Highlands has been recently improved with three high-speed quad chair
lifts and one triple chair lift. Highlands is a good area for a third day of
skiing as it has more challenging terrain. There are 81 trails over 790 acres
with 18% beginner, 30% intermediate, 16% most difficult and 36% expert. Highlands
has a vertical drop of 3,635 feet and the longest run is 3.5 miles.
